Dryanovo municipality is situated in the central part of the Fore Balkan on 248,5 square meters strongly cut relief with altitude from 180 to 640 meters. The beautiful mountain slopes are covered with compound broad-leaved forests and between the hills and the rocks the rivers Qntra and Dryanovska crank.
The climate is moderate continental with soft winter and cool summer, it is very favourable during all the seasons for rest and tourism. The altitude is around 300 meters.
The municipality is situated in administrative district- Gabrovo.
Dryanovo and 62 small settlements are situated in the municipality.
The central town is easy to get to through the main transport communications of north and south Bulgaria: the railway line Rouse-Podkova and the highway Rouse-Stara Zagora. Dryanovo is situated on 22 km away from Gabrovo and its ethnographic complexes, 24 km away from the Old Bulgarian capital Veliko Tarnovo, 17 km away from Tryavna with its architectural ensembles and on 34 km away from Sevlievo, the old Hotalich.
The population on the territory of the municipality is around 10 000. One of the oldest tracks of life on the Balkans were found in Dryanovo district- in “Bacho Kiro” cave. The second Bulgarian kingdom is inseparably connected with Dryanovo`s history. There are the remains of the medieval fortresses “The town”, “Boruna”, “Lipovo gradishte” and others.
Dryanovo was found in 1470 but near the present town there was a settlement from XI-XII century.
