It is the only preserved three storey residential building in Bulgaria, in a traditional architectural style from The Revival period. It is built around 1840 by Kolyu Gaidardjiyata, who was a master-builder from Dryanovo. Lafchieva House is also called "the house without a nail". It is a fact that in the whole construction was not used a nail or a metal clamp. Actually these are two houses – semidetached ones, The Lafcheva House and the Pereva House, which are connected in regard to facades in an entire architectural composition. They are intended and implemented as walls of one building. The first floor is a place for business activities – shops, storehouses, basements. The very next storey is outstanding over the previous one by balconies and consoles. The façade by the yard side is originally constructed. By this side the house is two-storey, stone and whitened with a gallery and high tetragonal wooden columns, which hold the eaves. The master constructed a passing to the yard multifunctional space in order to enlarge the volume of the terrain, which is closed between high fencing walls, and to connect it with the house.
The Lafchieva House impresses not only with the perfect construction, typical for the local builder masters and for the resourceful decisions of the plan, but with the elegant treatment of the wood and its use in the interior. The doors are arched and plated; the wall cupboards are with clear lines and standard proportions. The decoration is scanty – a small stylized rose partially put on the cupboard doors, a "sun” on the ceiling of the guest room. Master did not involve his work in the excessive and extravagance pomp of the national revival wood-carving style. He used a standard form, a straight line and the natural colors of the different types of wood. He combined light and dark, put on the ceiling mirror small slats, small wood-carving motifs and wood-carved perches. The interiors were arranged with furniture and belongings made here and from The Western Europe. Here is shown the domestic craft of weaving and a collection of fabrics and clothes, typical for the Dryanovo region. The museum exposition"Citizen way of life from the end of XIX c. and the beginning of XX c." is located here. At the moment on the first floor there is a small photo workshop (retro photo workshop) where the guests of Dryanovo are able to take a picture of them, dressed in traditional Dryanovo clothes.
