Museum Exposition "Archeology and National Revival" – Dryanovo Monastery

The exposition is located in the monastery "St. Archangel Michael". It is disposed in three halls on two floors. It introduces to the visitors the historical development of the Dryanovo region and the establishment of the Dryanovo monastery. The exposition presents a few periods from the development of the region. The ascent is put on the prehistoric cultures from the Stone Ages. Coins, weapons, pottery and material belongings present the culture of Thracians, Romans, Byzantines and Bulgarians, tell about the development of the fortresses, the medieval village and the monastery. The history of the Dryanovo Monastery and its role of a cultural centre during the years of Turkish yoke are traced. The heroic epopee of the rebels, led by Pop Hariton and Bacho Kiro in the battle in Dryanovo monastery is narrated. Document, weapons, and personal belongings of the rebels tell us about their deeds and destiny, specialize the importance of the historical event. The theme about the contribution of Dryanovo to the national liberation wars and to the Russian-Turkish War (1877-1878) is also researched here.
